Introduction

Have you ever thought about visiting Belize?

Well, my mom was born there. By the end of this report, you will learn about my relationship with Belize, my trip therre and the awesome animals of Belize. You should put “Go to Belize” on your bucket list. My favorite thing about Belize are the animals. I hope you enjoy this essay.

My Relationship with Belize

Isani in Belize

My mother came to the USA when she was 4 years. My grandpa still lives in Belize because he can’t take the cold. My grandma who lives in New York taught me and my siblings how to say “Good bye grandma” and “Good bye” in Belize’s language, Garifuna. On International Day, when my sister Areini was in kindergarten, she wore a Garifuna dress that our grandma gave her. I think about Belize every day.

My Trip to Belize

One of Isani’s stops in Belize.

On March 4th 2018, we boarded the plane from D.C. to Florida, then from Florida to Belize City, then we took a small plane to Placencia. We stayed at Roberts Grove Resort. The view from our rooms was amazing. There were three pools so we swam a lot. We got to visit my grandpa and spent Easter with him. I went snorkeling at Laughingbird Caye and saw a stingray! When I stubbed my toe on a rock, I couldn’t walk so my dad and I drew a picture of a coconut tree.

We watched a man get a coconut down from a tree. We even got to drink the water from the coconut. I met 6 family members that I didn’t know before! My 2 favorite things that I did when I was in Belize were climbing trees and drinking Fanta. Those few days were awesome because it was my first trip out of the country and we did a lot of cool activities.

The Animals of Belize

An animal in Belize.

The exotic animals of Belize act in an extraordinary way. One of the animals I saw at the Belize Zoo were harpy eagles. Harpy eagles are the biggest eagles in the Americas. Next, I saw a puma. Pumas are the fourth biggest cat in the world and is also known as a cougar or a mountain lion.

Next, I saw a jaguar. Jaguars are one of the cats that can swim fast. They also have the strongest bite of all the big cats. I also saw a caiman. Caimans eat fish and other reptiles; they can also swim 30 miles per hour. Wildlife in Belize is phenomenal.

I hope you learned a lot about Belize. I hope you learn about how I insert Belize into our regular lives. Do you think the trip to Belize was awesome? I think it was, seeing all those animals made me feel like I was in a forest. The trip made me realize where I was actually from. I love Belize and I hope you will too!
